About the course

The 3-day First Aid at Work course is our most popular first aid training course. It is suitable for a variety of working environments. After completing the 3-day first aid training, delegates will qualify as first aiders. The course meets the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. This regulation is set out by the…

Employers must provide adequate first aid for employees, and the law requires this. Typically, this involves training some staff to become qualified first aiders. The first aid at work course is popular as it covers many emergency scenarios that could cause a health crisis. Also, the HSE suggests annual refresher training to keep skills sharp.

Our First Aid at Work course is a Level 3 award under the Recognised Qualifications Framework. You need a Level 3 qualification to become a certified first aider. This is because it goes into more detail than other courses that cover fewer scenarios. It covers common workplace first aid incidents and addresses minor injuries. It also teaches delegates how to respond to a range of other first aid scenarios. The course meets UK health and safety first aid regulations. Successful participants become qualified first aiders. Participants learn to respond promptly and safely.

There are key differences between these two first aid courses. First, the Emergency First Aid at Work course (EFAW) is a level 2 award. It’s equal to a GCSE grade A*-C (9-4). The EFAW qualification is less comprehensive than FAW. It covers what to do for only serious medical emergencies. The FAW course meanwhile covers a wide range of first aid scenarios. First aid is not limited to CPR: there are many kinds of first aid procedure you may need to practice. Thus, it’s recommended to choose FAW unless you are a small and low-risk organisation.

CPR training and AED training are key first aid procedures. You will also have many chances to have hands-on experience with an AED. CPR and workplace cardiac arrests can be effectively managed with this tool. It can detect a heart’s rhythm and deliver an electric shock if needed. In an emergency first aid situation, it can save a life.

A First Aid at Work certificate is valid for 3 years. Before it expires, you will need to renew your certificate. You can do this by joining our 2-day first aid at work requalification course. This will make your first aid certificate valid for a further three years. The HSE strongly recommends taking an annual refresher to make sure your first aid skills remain fresh. That’s why we offer a First Aid at Work Update course for you to join. If your certificate has expired, you will need to take the full course again.

We offer the 3-day First Aid at Work course at all our centres across Wales.
